Transitional Housing

The Seattle Indian Center, through the Seattle Indian Center Housing Association provides a variety of housing solutions for our clients.

Emergency Shelter

Single paerents with children represent the fastest growing segments of the homeless population. These vulnerable families can obtain assistance for shelter, which provides for housing for up to 14 nights. However brief, this time period allows the family to rest, regroup and work with our counselors to find other appropriate sources of assistance, employment and educational opportunities for school age children. These families, like all SIC clients, have full access to the complete servide model. Funding for this prgram is provided by a number of public and private sources.

Kateri House

The Kateri House is the first off-reservation American Indian/Alaska Native group home for the developmentally disabled in the United States. This is home for up to eight residents at a time and is operated by the Seattle Indian Center Housing Association.

A professional, multi-disciplinary trained team provides rehabilitation based on the needs of the residents. The Kateri House stands as a remarkable achievement and as a powerful testimonial to the discipline and perseverance with which the Seattle Indian Center pursues the development of resources to meet the needs of its community.
